Ben: “We’re raring to go again"

Sun 14 June 2020, 08:45|Tottenham Hotspur

He’s been back ‘home’ - and Ben Davies can’t wait to get back to business on Friday.

The full-back stepped out at our new stadium with the rest of the squad for the first time since 4 March we faced Norwich City in a training friendly on Friday.

It was a positive afternoon as Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Moussa Sissoko and Steven Bergwijn all returned from injury in a match played over four 30-minute periods.

Of course, the stadium was empty as the country continues to combat the coronavirus and it will stay that way for the long-awaited return of the Premier League this week.

And we’re back with a bang - Manchester United at home this Friday (19 June, 8.15pm).

We’ve been training hard now for the last three, four weeks, so everyone is raring to go again

“It was really nice to back,” said Ben, who had only returned to action for a month when the COVID-19 pandemic struck in March, after three months sidelined with a knee injury sustained at West Ham in November.

“It’s something we’re going to have to get used to, playing in an empty stadium, and making sure we’re up and at it like we would be if we were walking out here on a 'normal' matchday.

“I thought we did that against Norwich. I thought we controlled the majority of the game. They had possession but we kept them to half-chances. Overall, a decent performance, and we’re feeling ready as a squad to get back at it next week.

“We’ve been training hard now for the last three, four weeks, so everyone is raring to go again. The players look fit and ready to go. We can’t wait to get started again.”
