'We've missed you all' - Jose, players send messages to fans

Mon 20 July 2020, 15:53|Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho led the thanks to our fans after our final home match of the season, a 3-0 win against Leicester City on Sunday.

Sadly, what is normally a day of celebration including a lap of appreciation from the players, staff and their families wasn't to be as football continues to be played behind closed doors and the country continues to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Of course, there was still plenty to celebrate on the day following a fine victory as Harry Kane's double and a strike from Heung-Min Son credited as an own goal fired us into a 3-0 lead by half-time. That was four wins in five in the Premier League and four on the trot at the new stadium.

But, just like the previous four home games, the occasion was missing the thing we're all here for - the Spurs family.

After the game, the players watched messages from fans on the big screens and showed their appreciation with a round of applause screened live on a special post-match broadcast of N17 Live.

During that broadcast, Head Coach Jose, skipper Hugo Lloris, vice-captain Harry and Sonny all took the opportunity to address our worldwide family directly. Here's what they had to say...

Jose Mourinho

"It was really sad, this last match at home without you. I hope to have you back next season, and I hope what we did in this last part of the season is good enough to show you the direction that we are going, and next season, of course, we all hope to have very happy moments together."

Hugo Lloris

"We miss the Spurs fans, we’ve missed them during the last few months and we can’t wait to see them back at our stadium, hopefully it will be soon and at the same time, we try to finish the season, try to get Europa League and the chance to share again some emotion and some great European nights."

Harry Kane

"I just want to say a big thank you, obviously strange times, last home game of the season and we’re not going around clapping, but we know everyone is at home supporting us. I’m very happy that we won today and finished strong, especially at home, so a big thanks for your support, one more game to go and let’s see if we can win that and get that European spot."

Heung-Min Son

"I said after Arsenal, it’s so sad not to be able to see you in this beautiful stadium. The players all miss you guys and hopefully we’ll see you as soon as possible. We miss you so much."
