Loan round-up - league debuts for Tracey and Shashoua
Mon 10 February 2020, 13:35|Tottenham Hotspur
Shilow Tracey and Armando Shashoua made their senior league debuts during a busy weekend for our players out on loan.
Here’s the latest on who has been in action for their respective clubs...
Debut duo
A staple of our Development Squad in recent seasons, attacker Shilow Tracey, 21, linked up with Macclesfield Town on loan at the end of January and came in for his first taste of League Two action from the start as the Silkmen battled out a 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient on Saturday.
Shilow, who completed just under an hour before being substituted, found himself playing against Spurs colleague George Marsh, who continues to be a regular starter on loan at Orient, primarily at right-back in recent weeks.
Also experiencing a senior league match for the first time – albeit overseas – was 19-year-old attacking midfielder Armando Shashoua, who came on to make his debut for Spanish Segunda División B side Atlético Baleares in the second half of their 3-1 home victory over Pontevedra on Sunday.
First start for Carter-Vickers
Saturday’s action in the Championship saw centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers, 22, make his first start for new loan club Luton Town in their 1-0 home defeat to Cardiff. The defender, an experienced campaigner in the second tier after a number of loan spells in recent seasons, had made his Hatters debut as a second-half substitute in their previous outing, a 2-0 reverse at West Brom seven days prior.
Clarke on for Amos
Elsewhere in the Championship, central midfielder Luke Amos retained his regular spot in Queens Park Rangers’ starting line-up as they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Huddersfield Town on Saturday. Luke was replaced on 67 minutes by another of our loan players, winger Jack Clarke, as Rangers chased the game. Jack has made three substitute appearances in the league since linking up with QPR, while his sole start to date came in his side’s 2-1 FA Cup fourth round loss at home to Sheffield Wednesday on 24 January.
Friendly outing for Austin
Goalkeeper Brandon Austin appeared in the colours of Danish side Viborg FF for the first time on Friday, playing the first half of his new loan club’s 2-0 friendly win at Silkeborg. Brandon made a handful of stops in a solid first senior outing, which saw him come up against ex-Spurs Academy midfielder Filip Lesniak, who was in action for Silkeborg. Viborg return to league action at home to Hvidovre on 28 February.
Rose’s debut
Newcastle United were not in action over the weekend due to the international break, but left-back Danny Rose took to the field for his new loan club for the first time a week ago on Saturday, going on as a substitute for the last 11 minutes of the Magpies’ goalless draw at home to Norwich City.
