Victor Wanyama closing in on return

Wed 23 January 2019, 14:16|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino reports that Victor Wanyama could return to action as soon as this weekend.

The midfielder has made only seven appearances in all competitions this season and has been laid low by a knee injury since he last featured at Palace on 10 November.

However, the Kenyan international skipper is back in training. “Victor has started to join the group,” reported Mauricio on Wednesday. “We’ll see if it’s possible for him to be involved in the FA Cup at the weekend. It’s very good news for us in the last few days to recover Moussa (Sissoko) and Lucas (Moura) and Wanyama is so close.”

Lucas and Moussa are back in contention for our Carabao Cup semi-final, second leg at Chelsea on Thursday night (7.45pm).
