My First Spurs Christmas - Hannah Godfrey

Thu 19 December 2019, 11:54|Tottenham Hotspur

Our ‘My First Spurs Christmas’ series is back this week. In the lead-up to 25 December, we catch up with some of this year’s new signings to find out about their plans for the festive period and how they’ve celebrated in the past. Chatting to us today is Spurs Women defender Hannah Godfrey, who arrived at the Club in the summer after four years plying her trade in America...

What will you do on Christmas Day?
“This year I’ll spend Christmas Day in Hastings with my family. We’ll all open presents first thing in the morning then enjoy a nice big Christmas dinner. In the evening we’ll play some fun games together as a family. This will be my gran’s 94th Christmas so that makes it extra special.”

How does this differ from past Christmases for you?
“Last Christmas I was in New York, but this year I’ll be in London. My family is only small but we tend to spend Christmas with everyone down in Hastings. My cousins are young, so it makes it so much more fun having them run around getting excited. It allows me to become a big kid again!”

What is traditional at Christmas in your family?
“Always a big Christmas dinner and bubble and squeak on Boxing Day. We all enjoy the time off together because it doesn’t happen often where we can get everyone together. That’s why Christmas is so special.”

What is your favourite festive meal?
“You can’t beat a traditional Christmas dinner, but the roast potatoes are number one for me. I must say I really do look forward to the bubble and squeak the next day!”

What do you wish for at Christmas?
“Happiness! I wish for everyone to be happy and healthy so we can continue to keep making amazing memories together.”

What was your most memorable gift as a child?
“Probably my hamster. My first one passed away and my parents said I wasn’t allowed another but, at the end of opening all the presents I was sent to the neighbours to get some milk for the cups of tea… and there he was! My new hamster named Patrick.”

Look out for more instalments of ‘My First Spurs Christmas’ throughout the week, featuring some of the new faces from both our Men’s and Women’s squads. Tanguy Ndombele was in the hot seat yesterday, with Ryan Sessegnon giving us his answers tomorrow...
