Jose's five-point preview - Norwich

It's a quick festive turn around - after coming back to beat Brighton 2-1 on Boxing Day, we now travel to Norfolk to face Norwich City at Carrow Road, kicking-off at 5.30pm this evening.

In our latest five-point preview, Jose Mourinho talks about Harry Kane, Dele and Erik Lamela before turning his attention to the Canaries...

1 - Harry Kane

The skipper's tireless performance against Brighton - including his 10th goal in the Premier League this term - drew praise from all quarters. Here's what Jose had to say in his press conference...

Jose: "When I was not his coach, I was always saying that he's the kind of striker who is always fantastic even if he doesn't score. There are so many top strikers in the world who score so many goals, but the day they don't score their performance is always poor, because they give nothing. This is the guy who if he doesn't score, his performance is good. He presses, he recovers balls, he holds the ball, he assists, he drops back. When Dele loses position he covers the position in the defensive organisation. He's fantastic. He scored two great goals, the first, I repeat, a correct decision by VAR but the action, the movement, the strike - brilliant. The goal is fantastic, brilliant. But his work was phenomenal."

Harry and Dele

2 - Dele

Dele continued his fine form with a beautifully-crafted winner against Brighton, but Jose was quick to highlight his sheer work rate...

Jose: "People now say since I arrived that Dele has scored three or four goals in the Premier League and one or two goals in the Champions League, but I don't go in that direction. I go in the direction of Dele exhausted, exhausted from work. I love players who are exhausted. The problem is that we have to play in two days. I love players to finish the game exhausted and that's what these guys are doing, Sissoko, also incredible."

3 - Erik Lamela

Jose told this story about Erik Lamela after our win on Boxing Day...

Jose: "Lamela, he was fantastic. I think it was 57 or 58 days that he didn't train with the team. He was injured, he was training individually. He trained with the team twice, after 57 days he trained twice with the team and he came to me and said 'I think you need me, because you are in trouble with injuries, suspensions, no Sonny, if you want me I am there, if you need me for 10 or 15 minutes, I'm there' so he was there if we needed him to try to score a goal. That's the kind of thing that touches me. I like players that make sacrifices for the team."

4 - Norwich

Onto Norwich, and speaking to Spurs TV, Jose felt Norwich are better than their black and white points tally in the Premier League. He told us what he's expecting at Carrow Road later today...

Jose: "That team is not the team for these points and even in matches against the top teams they get points. They play well. They are arrogant in the good sense of the word, the arrogance I like. They play football, they want to play, they want to win matches. They know how to play. I like them very, very much. Let’s try to beat them but after the game, I wish them all the best, because it’s a very interesting team."

5 - Problems - and solutions

One final thought, how would the team cope without three suspended players at Carrow Road? Heung-Min Son (second game of three-match ban), Harry Winks (suspended for this game only) and Moussa Sissoko (also suspended for this game only) are all missing...

"Today (Boxing Day) we had solutions. We had Winks, Sissoko, we had Dier on the bench. We have Oliver Skipp, who is a great kid fighting to improve, fighting for a place. Today we had solutions, against Norwich less solutions, so let's see."
