Mauricio on injured Kane's 'always positive' mindset

Fri 12 April 2019, 14:05|Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino has given an insight into Harry Kane’s state of mind after the striker’s latest injury setback.

Harry was forced off in the second half of Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Manchester City in the first leg of our Champions League quarter-final tie at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and it was confirmed on Thursday that he’d suffered a significant lateral ligament injury to his left ankle.

Unfortunate with injuries of a similar nature in the last three seasons, it’s the England captain’s second ankle issue of the calendar year.

Now it’s about being positive, thinking positively, trying to recover as soon as possible and thinking about his rehab.

Mauricio on Harry Kane's injury

Speaking to Spurs TV on Friday lunchtime, Mauricio was asked how Harry is feeling.

“He’s okay, he’s always a positive guy but of course it’s so sad and disappointing,” the manager explained. “Now it’s about being positive, thinking positively, trying to recover as soon as possible and thinking about his rehab.”

Revealing his own thoughts on the subject, Mauricio added: “We are so sad. We care a lot for him and for all our players that are injured.

“It was a tough moment for him, for us and it’s about wishing and to hope that it’s not a big issue but it’s true that the news is not good.

“We’ll see. Day-by-day we’re assessing him and trying to help him to recover as soon as possible.”
