Christian Eriksen kept us alive in the Champions League with the winner against Inter and beamed: “That felt good!”

We needed a goal with time running out at Wembley and the Danish maestro delivered.

Entering the fray off the bench on 70 minutes, Christian struck with 10 minutes remaining, applying a clinical finish following Moussa Sissoko’s break into the box and Dele’s touch into his path.

That goal won the game and vitally put qualification back into our hands.

It was nice to come on and make a difference - that’s what you want as a player

“It was a very important goal taking in mind what was at stake,” reflected Christian. “It was nice to come on and make a difference. That’s what you want as a player.

“I did think for a second that Dele was going to shoot when Moussa passed to him but the ball ended up at my feet and I was lucky to finish it off. That felt good! To get the winner was an amazing feeling.”

We’d been the better team throughout and seen chances come and go – Christian actually provided the best for Jan Vertonghen with his first touch after coming on in the second half – but we stayed strong as Inter looked for the equaliser.

The 1-0 win lifted us over Inter in Group B and now means qualifying will go down to the final round of matches when we travel to Barcelona and Inter host PSV in MD6 on 11 December. We need to match Inter’s result to progress to the knockout stage.

“It was an all or nothing game for us, must-win and we accomplished it,” said Christian. “We now have a chance in our own hands to play at the Nou Camp.

“We want to go through in the Champions League. It’s where we feel we belong, the knockout stages, so we have one more go and that’s three points at the Nou Camp. We know it will be a tough task but it will be a fun game.”
