Girona friendly confirmed

We are pleased to announce that our first team will face Girona FC in a pre-season friendly at their home stadium, Estadi Montilivi, on Saturday 4 August, kick-off 8pm local time (7pm UK time).

Our visit to Catalonia will be the first time we have taken on the La Liga side and will be our final match before the start of the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Girona finished 10th in La Liga last season after winning promotion to Spain’s top division for the first time in their 87-year history following a second-place finish in 2016/17’s La Liga 2.

This coming season will be the first under new Head Coach Eusebio Sacristan who was appointed last month and their squad includes former Premier League players Marc Muniesa (Stoke City), Bernardo (Middlesbrough) and Cristhian Stuani (Middlesbrough).

Stuani is currently on World Cup duty with Uruguay, while his Girona team-mates Johan Mojica and Yassine Bounou have also been in Russia representing Colombia and Morocco respectively.
