Southport or Tranmere away in the FA Cup

We have been drawn away to either Tranmere Rovers or Southport in the third round of The Emirates FA Cup.

The third round will take place over the weekend of 5/6 January.

National League North side Southport and League Two Tranmere drew 1-1 at Tranmere's Prenton Park in the second round on Saturday. They are currently scheduled to replay on Tuesday 11 December.

Further details regarding the scheduling of our tie, along with ticket details, will follow in due course.

We've played Tranmere eight times in our history and twice previously in the FA Cup. We drew 1-1 at Prenton Park in the third round in January, 1953, before winning the replay 9-1 at the Lane. Our last match against Wirral-based Rovers was in the fifth round in February, 2002. We won 4-0 at the Lane that day with Gus Poyet (2), Teddy Sheringham and Christian Ziege on target.

We've yet to face Southport in competitive action.
