Leicester 0-2 Spurs - Mauricio's verdict

Mauricio Pochettino pinpointed Heung-Min Son’s wonderful opening goal as key to our 2-0 victory at Leicester City on Saturday night.
The first half was somewhat of a stalemate with few chances until our South Korean star stepped in seconds before the half-time whistle.
Picking the ball up in the right channel, Sonny stepped inside Nampalys Mendy and pinged a left-foot curler that arrowed into the top corner.
Dele’s diving header on 58 minutes for his 50th Spurs goal – almost a carbon copy of his first goal for us at the same venue in August, 2015 – put daylight between the teams and we saw out the 2-0 scoreline to move back into third in the Premier League.
It was another magic moment from Sonny to go alongside his goal against Chelsea last month.
Mauricio said: “It was key because it was at the end of the first half and that provided us the belief to go and to win the game.
“Leicester are a very good team and it’s always a difficult place to play. Last season, we lost. Today, our performance was very solid and these are very good points.
“To show the character and that solid performance is an amazing thing. All the players have been involved in the last few weeks playing and rotating and that says a lot about the squad. That is so important. It increases our level.”
Mauricio can now finally turn his attention to a huge game at the Nou Camp and an emotional return to Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
Twelve years as player and manager of Barca’s city rivals Espanyol, Mauricio steps back into the Nou Camp knowing we have to match Inter’s result against PSV to progress into the knockout stage.
He added: “It’s a must-win game, so emotional for everyone because we are going to have the possibility to play in (the) Champions League there.
“Of course it will be tough because Barcelona are a great team, they have qualified but all is possible in football, only you need to have the belief - and I believe this squad has the belief.”
