Mauricio Pochettino explained that Dele Alli was withdrawn at half-time at Everton as a precautionary measure after picking up an injury at the end of the first half.

In fine form at Goodison and on target to make it 2-1 in the first half, Dele went in for a challenge with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford towards the end of the half and was seen holding the back of his leg afterwards.

However, Mauricio said afterwards he hoped it wasn’t going to be a big issue.

Asked about taking Dele off at half-time with a hamstring problem, Mauricio told Sky Sports: “He didn’t feel a big problem. I think he was a little tired from Wednesday. I think it’s not a big issue and it was more of a precaution.”

He later told Spurs TV: “I think he’s going to be okay and we hope it’s not a big issue but we need to assess him tomorrow.”
