Heung-Min Son spoke with pride after unlocking the door to victory at Leicester City with another Sonny special on Saturday night.

The South Korean star provided the key moment after a stalemate first half at the King Power Stadium.

As the half ticked into added time, Sonny picked the ball up on the right, cut inside and unleashed a beauty that curled past Kasper Schmeichel into the top corner.

Even at 0-0, you felt we were always in control as defensively we shut the Foxes down. Sonny’s goal increased that belief and when Dele headed home for 2-0 on 58 minutes the three points were destined for north London.

After a tricky start to the campaign, Sonny bagged his fifth goal in his last nine games in all competitions.

Was he back to his best? “I try all the time, work hard, try to enjoy it but of course, when you score you enjoy it more,” he said.

“We can be proud. It’s an honour to play in this shirt, an honour to score for this Club. I try all the time to give my best performance. Sometimes it doesn’t go well, but I try to get to my best form again and this is the most important thing.”

The first half was tough going but you felt the clever, quick movement of the front three of Sonny, Dele and Lucas Moura would get there eventually.

Sonny added: “It was a tough game, they stood very deep and tried the counter-attack and we didn’t find a good solution. But I think the goal was very good timing, we deserved it and I was happy to score with this goal.

“Sometimes it’s difficult, all the Premier League teams are tough to play against and we showed a good performance, good mentality and good attitude - this was very important.”
