Maddison and Tel up for Premier League Goal of the Month

James Maddison and Mathys Tel have been nominated for the Premier League's Goal of the Month award for October.

Our number 10 marked his first competitive start in 526 days with a stunning goal when he curled into the top bin to give us a 14th-minute lead in the 3-1 win over Coventry City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 19 October.

After Mohammed Kudus had skipped around his marker midway inside the opposition half and cut inside from the right, the winger rolled it to 'Madders' who showed superb technique to whip a first-time finish into the far corner from just outside the box. The 29-year-old's first goal since scoring on his previous start in the Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt on 1 May 2025.

The creative midfielder faces competition from team-mate Mathys who opened his account for the campaign with a superb solo effort in the subsequent 2-0 victory at Chelsea.

Taking a deserved one-goal lead through Mike Penders' own goal on 77 minutes, the young Frenchman sealed the win with three minutes remaining when he recovered the ball inside his own half before dribbling 40 yards - skipping past compatriot Maxence Lacroix - and firing it into the bottom left corner from range.

A sublime goal that claimed your Goal of the Month for October and, most importantly, capped a fine team and individual performance to come home with a famous win at Stamford Bridge.

As ever, you can vote for either player to win the Guinness Goal of the Month award prior to the 12 noon on Monday 9 November deadline.
