Roberto’s latest on Maddison from Stamford Bridge

Roberto De Zerbi was hopeful James Maddison ‘didn’t feel a big problem’ as he was forced off in our 2-0 win at Chelsea on Saturday.

The playmaker, who marked a triumphant first start in 18 months with a goal in our 3-1 win against Coventry on Monday night, was back in the starting line-up at the Bridge, and impressed again as we took control in the first half.

However, he was seen waving at the bench just seven minutes into the second half – replaced by Conor Gallagher.

“I hope he didn't feel a big problem, but we have to make a medical check,” said Roberto. “Maddison and Kulusevski, we have to manage them like two diamonds, because both are special players, both have different personalities.”

Asked later about Madders in his post-match press conference, Roberto added: “We need to do the medical check tomorrow, after tomorrow, I don't know. I hope it's not a big problem because he's a special player for us. We need him.”
