Irow nets League One Goal of the Month prize

Oli Irow has won the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month award for September, following his exceptional strike for Plymouth Argyle against Barnsley.

Our on-loan forward lit the blue touchpaper at Home Park when he arrowed a shot into the top corner from distance inside the first minute of the game on 12 September.

It set his side on the way to a 3-0 win and marked the first of two consecutive goalscoring Saturdays for the 20-year-old, as he went on to bag a brace in a 4-2 triumph at Blackpool the following week.

“It’s obviously an honour to pick up an award like this,” said Academy product Oli. “It’s probably the best goal I’ve scored in my professional career so far but most importantly it set us on the way to three important points.

“We’ve been in a really good moment as a team, and I feel really happy with my contributions individually as well. This is just the start though and I hope I can contribute more goals and assists as we look to continue our good start to the season.”

Oli’s Plymouth team-mate and former Spurs midfielder Harvey White was also in the running for the award, along with Luton Town’s Callum Marshall and MK Dons’ Aaron Collins.
