Duo up for WSL Player of the Month award
Victoria Pelova and Signe Gaupset have been nominated for September’s Barlcays Women’s Super League Player of the Month award.
The midfield pair shone in the opening month of the 2026/27 campaign as we remain unbeaten in the first four games of the season, which currently sees us second in the table, having scored 15 goals in total – the league’s leading goalscorers to date.
Summer signing Vic has netted four of our 15 goals in the competition, including back-to-back braces in our last two fixtures against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, which puts her as the league’s top joint-goalscorer – level with Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw and Birmingham City’s Oceane Hurte.
Playing in a slightly more attacking role in recent weeks, the Netherlands international has scored all different types of goals, from a well-placed shot from the edge of the box in the win at Selhurst Park before showcasing her quick reactions in the box to slot home from close range last weekend against Villa.
Signe has picked up where she left off last term. Joining midway through the 2025/26 campaign, the young midfielder had a full pre-season under her belt with the Club this summer and has made an immediate impact in our impressive start to the season.
Scoring our first goal of the term in our opening day victory over West Ham United, the 21-year-old has registered most assists in the league so far (three) and has created the most chances (18) while she also became the youngest player in WSL history to create eight chances in a single fixture – coming in our 4-0 win over Villa.
Joining the duo as nominees for the award are Lucy Bronze of Chelsea, Vivien Endemann of Liverpool, Lauren Hemp of Manchester City, Oceane Hurte of Birmingham City, Khadija Shaw of Manchester City and Danielle van de Donk of London City Lionesses.
