Team news | Ho's update on squad ahead of Brighton trip
Martin Ho provided an update on how the squad is shaping up ahead of our trip to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Subway Players Cup on Wednesday night (7.45pm UK).
Our clash with the Seagulls at Broadfield Stadium in the second game of the league phase of the competition will be the third match in seven days – having faced West Ham United last week and Aston Villa at the weekend.
Sitting down for his SPURSPLAY pre-match interview for Brighton, our Head Coach says that everyone that was involved in Sunday’s win over Villa should be available for the trip to Crawley.
“We’ve had a couple of sessions after Villa game,” he told us. “We needed to make sure we gave the players the opportunity to recover and then we will get the availability report which, fingers crossed, there’s no niggles from the game.
“Everyone should be available up to now and then we’ll have one final session to see where we are at.”
Martin made nine changes to the squad that faced the Hammers in the opening game of the league phase last week and although we then face London City Lionesses on Sunday, he reiterated that he will pick the strongest team for the fixture with Brighton.
“I will always put the strongest team that will win the game,” he added. “You’ll give opportunities there, but also the important thing for the team is to make sure we can go out, perform and start the game well.
“We have players and a really strong squad that can change the game if we need to make changes.”
“I’ll make sure the team going out there realise the opportunity ahead, they recognise the moment they are in and we have to make sure that we go out and push to win the game."
Jess Naz and Maite Oroz continue to be in small parts of training as they continue their rehabilitation from anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Clare Hunt continues to recover from her injury.
