Women’s Under-19s finish all square against Lionesses

Our Women’s Under-19s maintained their unbeaten run to the 2026/27 campaign with a 1-1 draw with London City Lionesses in the Professional Game Academy League on Wednesday afternoon.

Having picked up a valuable point with Arsenal at the weekend, our youngsters continued their fine start to the season by coming from behind to share the spoils with the Lionesses.

Following a stalemate first half in Kent, the home side broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart, but we quickly regrouped and found the leveller just after the hour mark.

Although we were unable to find a winner in the remainder of the second period, Matt Sharman’s side remain unbeaten in the league – and in all competitions – with five points from the opening three games.

Reflecting on the game, coach Matt said: “I thought we started the game slowly and you could probably see at times that it was our third game in seven days, but as the game went on, we started to find our feet and have more of an impact on the game.

“We made a few changes and adjustments during the second half and I thought that gave us a really strong period in the second half. We became the more dominant side, created a number of good chances, and ultimately probably created enough to feel that we could have taken all three points.

“The big positive for me was the effort and togetherness from the group. Even when we went 1-0 down, we showed good character to find a way back into the game - the response, the fight and the togetherness of the team were again really pleasing

“Overall, we are proud to get something positive from the game but not satisfied with our overall performance across the full 90 minutes and we will look forward to getting another opportunity to play on Sunday.”
