Everything you need to know about the WSL’s new fantasy game

The Women’s Super League has launched a brand-new fantasy football experience to bring fans closer together with the players who feature in both the Barclays WSL and WSL 2.

You are now able to build a 15-player fantasy squad and invite your friends and family to compete against each other in leagues, while you can also battle it out with fellow Spurs supporters in our Official League, which can be joined by selecting us as your favourite club.

The game, which is now live on the WSL Football website and app, has a few unique things that make it different to other fantasy games.

When selecting your squad, players from all 26 clubs across the two divisions sit in a single pool, meaning that you can build a team mixing both tiers if you want to.

In addition to your own personal leagues, there is also a leaderboard with every fantasy manager in the game across the season, with WSL prizes up for grabs.

Different to other games, the season is split into six blocks called ‘legs’, each with its own leaderboard and its own prize, meaning that a bad start does not end the season because of the opportunity to win legs throughout the campaign.

While most fantasy games lock the entire team at one deadline before fixtures begin, in this game,  once the matchweek begins, you have the ability to switch your captain to a player who has not yet kicked off.

Finally, while the prices of players can move throughout the season, when making a transfer you will always be able to sell a player for exactly what they were paid for, so nobody gets left behind for joining late or missing a price rise.

After a season where only Man City’s Bunny Shaw and Arsenal’s Alessia Russo found the net more often than our new recruit Kirsty Hanson at Aston Villa, she is the most expensive Spurs player at launch, costing £8.0m of the £100m budget given to managers.

Defensive duo Alice Sombath and Caitlin Dijkstra are each priced at £5.5m in their debut WSL season, while goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen is £5.0m on launch.

New midfielder Victoria Pelova is priced at £6.5m, while Shekeira Martinez is our most expensive forward at £7.0m, with the full list of Spurs players on Barclays WSL Fantasy this season available below!
