Stuart Lewis joins Ipswich Town
We can announce that Stuart Lewis, our First Team Academy Transition Coach, has left the Club to take up a coaching role at Ipswich Town.
Stuart said: "Returning to my boyhood club as a coach 11 years ago was a dream come true.
"Having supported Tottenham Hotspur since I was five years old and previously represented the Club as a young professional, it was a privilege to come back and help develop the next generation of players.
"My family and I have supported the Club all our lives, so I have always understood what it means to represent Tottenham Hotspur and the identity our teams should embody; brave, attacking, front-foot football."I have made so many special memories during my time at the Club, building relationships that will stay with me for the rest of my life. Winning the Under 17 and Under 18 Premier League Cups in the 2022/23 season, followed by another Under 17 Premier League Cup success in April, 2025, were fantastic collective achievements for everyone involved.
"While those trophies were incredibly special, I always knew that the primary objective was to develop players capable of progressing to the first team. I have no doubt it won't be long before more Academy graduates are gracing our brilliant stadium.
“I would like to thank everyone at the Club for their support and for allowing me to pursue this fantastic opportunity at Ipswich Town, which enables me to fulfil my ambition of coaching in the Premier League. I leave with immense pride, gratitude and lifelong memories, and I wish everyone connected with Tottenham Hotspur every success in the future.”
Initially joining us as a teenager in 2004, boyhood Spurs fan Stuart progressed through our Academy system to sign his first professional contract before enjoying a senior playing career with the likes of Barnet, Stevenage, Gillingham, Dagenham & Redbridge and Wycombe Wanderers - racking up over 200 appearances in the Football League, FA Cup and League Cup.
He returned to the club as a part-time coach in 2015 and on retiring from non-league football, was appointed our full-time Under-16s coach in 2019 and then our Under-18s coach in 2021. In 2023, he led our Under-17s and Under-18s to a Premier League Cup double, following up again with the Under-17s in 2025.
Stuart was appointed First Team Academy Transition Coach at the start of the 2025/26 season, aiding the development and integration of our young players into the senior set-up.
During his time as Under-18s/Transition Coach, Stuart has seen a number of our Academy players progress to make first team debuts - the likes of George Abbott, Jamie Donley, Mikey Moore, Will Lankshear, Alfie Dorrington, Callum Olusesi, Damola Ajayi, Luca Williams-Barnett, Jun'ai Byfield and James Rowswell.
We wish Stuart all the best at Portman Road.
