Bergvall helps Sweden progress

Lucas Bergvall played his part in the early hours of Friday morning as Sweden earned a draw against Japan which will be enough to send them through to the knockout stages of the World Cup.

Midfielder Lucas stepped off the bench in place of the injured Isak Hien after 37 minutes and completed the rest of the game as his side came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 in Dallas.

Daizen Maeda had given Japan the lead after 56 minutes, but Anthony Elanga equalised with a fine strike six minutes later.

The result sees Sweden finish third in Group F with four points, which will be enough to send them into the last 32 as one of the best third-placed sides.

They’ll now face one of France, Norway, Germany or Switzerland.
Congratulations, Lucas!
