Palhinha up for Premier League's Player of the Matchweek

Difference maker Joao Palhinha has been shortlisted for the Premier League's final Player of the Matchweek of the campaign.

The on-loan 30-year-old has contributed some big goals over the season and none more crucial than the decider in our 1-0 win over Everton on the last league game of 2025/26.

With victory guaranteeing top-flight safety, Joao broke the deadlock shortly before the break when his initial header from a corner hit the post and he reacted quickest to turn in the rebound to spark jubilant scenes amongst players, staff and fans alike at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That took his league tally to a career-best five goals - scoring seven in all competitions - with the midfielder also delivering a typically committed display in the engine room to break up play, making the most tackles on the pitch that afternoon to end second-highest in the division across the season (110), to help protect the vital lead until the final whistle.
