Micky wins Goal of the Season

Micky van de Ven has claimed our Official Supporters’ Clubs’ Goal of the Season award for his wonder strike against FC Copenhagen.

The Netherlands international defender lit up Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with an astonishing individual effort back on 4 November, collecting the ball deep in our half and driving through the heart of the visitors’ ranks before powering a shot into the net.

It was the third goal of an eventual 4-0 win against the Danish side in the league stage of the UEFA Champions League, and was reminiscent of a similar solo goal scored by Heung-Min Son against Burnley in 2019.

Having run 67.7m before firing into the back of the net, Micky broke the record for the longest ball carry ending in a goal in the history of the Champions League.

The 25-year-old was presented with his award on Friday as a small number of fans came in to Hotspur Way to hand out our end-of-season prizes.

Archie Gray was also recognised with all three Player of the Season awards.
