Koga named in Women's Super League Team of the Season
Toko Koga's excellent debut season has been recognised by the Barclays Women's Super League as she has been named in the competition's Team of the Season.
A signing from Feyenoord last summer, Toko has really hit the heights in her first year in England with a string of high quality performances across the campaign.
Joining us as a teenager, the now 20-year-old defender slotted into our backline with ease, helping us to four clean sheets in our first five outings of the campaign as we conceded just three goals in our first seven games.
The centre-back went on to play a total of 19 games across the campaign, missing just three matches. Two of those games came in March with her on international duty, helping Japan to glory at the Asia Cup, playing in five of her nations matches at the competition, including the final against Australia where fellow Spur Maika Hamano scored the winner.
Back in November, Toko set a new recored for the Club in the WSL as she became our youngest ever goalscorer in the competition, finding our equaliser as we came from behind to defeat Liverpool 2-1 at Brisbane Road.
She then added her second of the campaign on the final day of the season as she lobbed home spectacularly from 35 yards out to see us again come from behind to win, this time defeating Brighton 2-1 on the south coast.

Toko is now just the second Spurs player to be named in a WSL Team of the Season after Grace Clinton was recognised after her fine season in N17 back in 2023/24 when on loan from Manchester United.
