Our first home match against Sunderland resulted in a 2-1 win in the FA Cup on February 11 thanks to goals from Tom Bradshaw and John Cameron.

1910

Sunderland's first visit to the Lane in league action and a convincing win in the old Division One as goals from Percy Humphreys (2), John Curtis, Bert Middlemiss and Robert Steel saw us home 5-1 on March 25.

1938

How apt! Our record home attendance of 75,038 was set in an FA Cup sixth round tie against Sunderland on March 5 and it stood for 78 years until this week, when we set a new mark of 85,011 against Monaco in the Champions League at Wembley.

1961

One of our most important wins against Sunderland at home. Having drawn at Roker Park, we took Sunderland apart in the replay with this 5-1 win on March 8 taking us a step closer to the double. Terry Dyson (2), Les Allen, Dave Mackay and Bobby Smith were on target.

1969

The first of many for Steve Perryman - 854 to be precise! Our legendary former skipper made his debut against Sunderland at the Lane on September 27.

2000

David Ginola played his final game for Spurs as Stephen Carr scored a wonderful goal in a 3-1 win against Sunderland at the Lane.

2003

Teddy Sheringham scored his 300th senior goal in a 4-1 win against Sunderland at the Lane on February 8.

2013

Gareth Bale fired home a memorable final goal on his final appearance for us against the Black Cats at the Lane on May 19.

2014

Harry Kane scored his first Premier League for us in a 5-1 win against Sunderland at the Lane on April 7. It kick-started a spell of three goals in three games at the end of 2013-14 and paved the way for his breakthrough season in 2014-15, where he scored 31 goals in all competitions. Harry reached the 50-goal mark for us in the Premier League at Stoke - 50 goals in 87 Premier League appearances.
