Club launches support for healthy living campaign

Alongside Wednesday’s signing session, and as part of our commitment to the local community in Brent while we are playing home matches in Wembley, the Club delivered free health checks to members of the public in the shopping centre, courtesy of the Spurs Nurse.

It was part of our support of the local Council’s healthy living campaign, ‘My Heart Beats for Brent’, which aims to encourage local residents to take part in at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day using the Borough’s facilities and open spaces.

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation has successfully delivered over 4,000 community health checks – primarily aimed at men over the age of 35 reluctant to visit their GP – in Haringey and will now be rolling the programme out in Brent.

Gary Mabbutt said: “Given the Borough of Brent is becoming our temporary home, it is important for us as a Club to engage with the local community here as we do in Tottenham and we aim to use our unique appeal as a football club to promote healthy lifestyles amongst residents through the ‘My Heart Beats for Brent’ campaign.”
