1888   Winger Fanny Walden born in Wellingborough. He would join us in April, 1913, from his hometown club for a then record £1,700 fee and go on to play for England.
1995Â Â Â Ronny Rosenthal scores a hat-trick as we hit back from two goals down at Southampton to win 6-2 after extra time in an FA Cup fifth round replay.

1932   Goalkeeper Cyril Spiers plays his last game for the club – and we lose 4-1 at Plymouth Argyle in Division Two.
1983   And Ricky Villa plays his final match for us – but we lose 3-0 at Notts County.

1909Â Â Â In a rare visit to Stockport County we win 3-1 on our way to promotion to Division One. Walter Bull makes his debut.
1985   Our first home defeat ever in European competition – Real Madrid depart with a 1-0 UEFA Cup win thanks to Steve Perryman’s own goal.

1912Â Â Â Outside-right Fred Sargent born in Islington and would sign for us as an amateur in February, 1934.
1959Â Â Â Terry Medwin bags four at Leicester where we win 6-0 to stay ahead in the Division One relegation battle.

1902Â Â Â Swindon Town defeated 7-1 in the Southern League at the Lane. Sandy Brown nabs a hat-trick.
1995Â Â Â A 3-0 home win over Ipswich Town with Jurgen Klinsmann (pictured, below) one of our goalscorers.

1898Â Â Â We travel to Tunbridge Wells for a friendly and leave with a 5-0 win. Bill Joyce scores three.
1953Â Â Â We finally get past Birmingham City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. It takes three games before Sonny Walters provides the vital strike at neutral Molineux.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND v SPURS, UEFA Europa League, Round of 16, at Signal Iduna Park, 6pm (UK time)
1894Â Â Â We battle our way to the semi-finals of the Wolverton and District Charity Cup but lose by the only goal to Smethwick.
1990   We add to Charlton Athletic’s relegation fears with a 3-0 Division One triumph at the Lane. The Addicks go down with Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the season.

1967   On our way to another magical Wembley day, we overcome Bristol City 2-0 in the fifth round of the FA Cup in front of 54,610 spectators. Jimmy Greaves scores both – one a penalty.
2000Â Â Â A 7-2 home victory over Southampton. Steffen Iversen (pictured, below) leads the way with three goals, Chris Armstrong bags two.

1936   Ralph ‘Butcher’ Ward signs from Bradford Park Avenue. Wonder what kind of shop he worked in prior to his football career?

2002   Having lost 4-0 at Manchester United, we travel to Chelsea the following week – and lose 4-0! Mauricio Taricco is sent off in both games.
2010Â Â Â Roman Pavlyuchenko nets two in our 3-1 home win over Blackburn Rovers.

1910   Having reached the heady heights of Division One, we head to Sheffield Wednesday where we draw 1-1 – but only 3,000 turn up to watch!
1998Â Â Â Jurgen Klinsmann, David Ginola and Ramon Vega all score for us in a 3-3 home draw with Liverpool.
15Â Â Â TUESDAY
1948Â Â Â Charlie Withers makes his Spurs debut at home to Barnsley in the Second Division but we lose 3-0.
2009Â Â Â Having lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa in the September, we then win by the same scoreline at Villa Park where Jermaine Jenas and Darren Bent score our goals.

1976Â Â Â John Pratt on target as we win 1-0 at Wolves, completing a league double over a side that would be relegated at the end of the season.
1999Â Â Â We win by a memorable David Ginola goal at Barnsley to reach the FA Cup semi-finals.

1982   Glenn Hoddle’s (pictured, above) crucial away goal in Frankfurt sees us through to the European Cup Winners’ Cup semi-final with a 3-2 aggregate win over Eintracht.

1961Â Â Â We beat Burnley 3-0 at Villa Park in the semi-final of the FA Cup. Bobby Smith (2) and Cliff Jones are our marksmen.
2006Â Â Â A 2-0 win at soon-to-be-relegated Birmingham City where Aaron Lennon and Robbie Keane score.

1949Â Â Â England international centre-half Harry Clarke makes his Spurs debut in our 2-1 home win over Luton Town.
1983   Steve Perryman is sent off but Mark Falco’s goal gives us victory at Watford.

1920   Manager Peter McWilliam gives league debuts to 15 players in this Division Two season – including Billy Sage on this day at home to Rotherham County. We win 2-0 on our way to topping the table at the conclusion of the campaign.
2010Â Â Â A 2-1 win at Stoke City. Eidur Gudjohnsen and Niko Kranjcar score along with former Spur Matthew Etherington for the home side from the penalty spot.

1999   We lift the League Cup thanks to Allan Nielsen’s late goal against Leicester City at Wembley. Justin Edinburgh is dismissed.

1941Â Â Â Ivor Broadis scores all three for us in a 3-3 home draw with Cardiff City in the War Cup. He was again on target when we won the replay 3-2.

2010Â Â Â We push on in the FA Cup with a 3-1 home win over Fulham in a sixth round replay. However, we would lose to Pompey in our Wembley semi.

1918Â Â Â Tragically our former player Walter Tull is killed in action in World War One.
1950Â Â Â Future Welsh international player and manager, Terry Yorath, born in Cardiff. He would join us from Coventry City in August, 1979.

1937   A 5-3 defeat at Bury in the Second Division. We played them again at home three days later – and won 2-0.
2010   Sandro’s (pictured, below, with Ledley King) signing from Internacional completed but he would not join us until July.

1964Â Â Â Alan Mullery scores his first Spurs goal at Anfield where Jimmy Robertson makes his debut. We lose 3-1.
