Spurs 4-1 City U18s - Kieran's verdict
Kieran McKenna had plenty of positives to ponder after a convincing 4-1 win against City in the Barclays U18 Premier League on Saturday.
Kazaiah Sterling led the way with two goals, Anton Walkes and Ryan Loft added a goal each while Marcus Edwards created three of the four and struck the post.
It was a commanding performance albeit against a City team that rested players ahead of their FA Youth Cup semi-final against Chelsea on tonight (Monday, April 20).
"We're under no illusions, we know City have an FA Youth Cup tie on Monday, so it was a younger age group for them but we also had six players involved in the Under-21s on Friday night, so it was different from what it would normally on a Saturday morning," said coach Kieran.
"There was a lot to take from the game. I would say it was Kazaiah Sterling's best performance for the Under-18s, his work-rate set the tone and he scored his goals as well.
"Marcus Edwards was clever in and around the box, he still has a lot to work on but has shown plenty of progress.
"Luke Amos played in a different position (at centre-back). We see that as important in every player's development and the way he applied himself was a credit to him. He was comfortable back there and showed real leadership. It was a good response from him after being sent off last week.
"The only disappointment is that we weren't more ruthless in terms of putting more goals on the scoreboard but overall, a good performance."
