Club calls on schools to represent Spurs in Planet Super League

Kicking off today (Monday 10 January), schools across the UK will be battling it out to be the greenest school and crowned champions of the first ever, Schools vs Climate Change competition.

Using football-themed challenges, the aim of Schools vs Climate Change is to encourage more sustainable behaviours amongst young people in school and at home - all in the name of their favourite team.

Over six weeks, fans can score ‘goals’ for their club by completing planet-saving activities which will help their school climb the league table.

There are over 100 activities to choose from, including an activity inspired by our very own Lucas Moura. Entitled ‘No Moura Landfill’, the activity will see participants complete keepie uppies with a recyclable item before kicking it into a recycling bin.

Prizes are up for grabs including a Stadium Tour voucher for the school class who complete the most activities. The tournament trophy will be awarded at the end of February.

Last year, Tottenham Hotspur was named the Premier League’s greenest club following a study carried out by BBC Sport and the UN-backed Sport Positive Summit. The Club gained the maximum 21 points available having been judged across eight different sustainability criteria.
In September, the Club partnered with Sky to host the world’s first net zero carbon football game at an elite level.

We are also a proud signatory of the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework, which calls on sporting organisations to acknowledge the contribution of the sports industry on climate change and a collective responsibility to strive towards climate neutrality for a safer planet.
