App exclusive: The game in numbers - Spurs 3-0 Leeds United

We kicked off 2021 with a win as we overcame Leeds United 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Harry Kane got us underway as he fired home from the penalty spot on 29 minutes after Steven Bergwijn had been brought down in the box by Ezgjan Alioski. Harry then set-up Heung-Min Son for our second just two minutes before half-time with Toby Alderweireld later heading home our third against the Whites on 50 minutes, direct from a Sonny corner.

Here’s a look at the key statistics and numbers behind the game...

Watch the key highlights from our 3-0 home win over Leeds United.

Can’t stop Kane

30 - Harry Kane continued his record of having scored against every Premier League team he has faced - Leeds United being the 30th top flight opponent he has hit the target against. Harry is the only player in the competition's history to hold that record.

21 - The striker is now in double figures for both assists and goals in the Premier League this season after just 16 games. That is the quickest a player has ever reached double figures in both disciplines in the competition, beating the record of 17 games previously set by Cesc Fabregas for Arsenal in 2009/10. He is also the first player in Europe’s ‘top five’ leagues to reach that feat.

11 - Harry leads the way in the Premier League in terms of assists with 11 to his name - four more than any other player.

6 - Our number 10 completed all six of his take-ons in the game - three more than any other player.

Sharp shooter Sonny

100 - Heung-Min Son's goal against Leeds was his 100th for the Club in all competitions – he is the 18th player to reach that milestone in our history.

152 - Sonny has now been directly involved in 152 goals for us in 253 games (100 goals, 52 assists).

12 - He's second in the Premier League goalscoring chart this term on 12 goals.

17 - The South Korean international has been directly involved with 17 goals so far in the Premier League this season in just 16 games.

4 - No player played more key passes in our game against Leeds than our number seven (4).

0.42 – Having scored 12 goals from just 28 shots in the Premier League so far this season, the forward currently has a shots-to-goals ratio of 0.42 - the best of any player to have scored at least five goals in the competition this campaign.

The deadly duo

13 - Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have now combined for 13 Premier League goals this season - no duo has ever combined for more in a single campaign in the competition (joint with Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton in 1994/95) and we are just 16 games into the season...

32 - Harry and Sonny have now combined for an incredible 32 Premier League goals - they are now just four goal combinations behind the all-time record in the competition (Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard -36)

9 - Harry has assisted Sonny nine times so far in this Premier League season - a joint-record for one player assisting another in a single campaign in the competition.

Leeds dispatched

5 - We have now won five of our last six Premier League meetings with Leeds (D1).

23 - We have also now been victorious in 23 of our last 25 Premier League home games against newly promoted sides (D1 L1). We have kept 15 clean sheets in that run.

1 - We have lost just one of our last 14 home Premier League games against sides from Yorkshire (W10 D2) – a 1-0 defeat to Hull City in October, 2008.

5 - Jose Mourinho has won all five of his career meetings with Marcelo Bielsa by an aggregate score of 18-2.

1 - Jose has also lost just one of his 28 Premier League home games against newly promoted sides (W22 D5).

Other notable numbers

1997 - When starting a new year at home, we have remained unbeaten in our opening league game of the calendar year since 1997.

4 - Having failed to win any of our first three home Premier League games of the season, we have now won four of our last five (L1). It is now just two defeats in our last 12 home games in the competition.

1 - Having enjoyed going the entire calendar year of 2020 without a red card in any competition, Matt Doherty’s late dismissal against Leeds was the first red card we have been shown since Heung-Min Son was sent off against Chelsea in December, 2019.

20 - We attempted 20 shots against Leeds United - the most we have attempted in a game since our 6-1 win over Manchester United in October and the third most we have had in a single game in the competition this season (22 at United, 23 at home to Newcastle).

36.7 - We enjoyed just 36.7 per cent of the possession against Leeds United – only against Liverpool (24.2), Arsenal (30.2) and Manchester City (33.9) have we enjoyed less in the Premier League this season. We won three of those four games, scored eight goals, conceded just one and kept three clean sheets.

24 - We made 24 successful challenges against Leeds - only against Liverpool (26), Manchester City and West Ham (both 25) have we made more successful tackles in a single game this season.

98 - It was Hugo Lloris 98th Premier League clean sheet.
