Ryan's praise for 'outstanding professional' Pierre

Ryan Mason has paid tribute to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s super-consistent campaign.

The all-action midfielder is set to play every minute of our Premier League season as we prepare to face Leicester City in our 2020/21 finale on Sunday (4pm).

Recently voted Danish Player of the Year - ending the stranglehold of Kasper Schmeichel and Christian Eriksen on the trophy going back to 2013 - Pierre has featured in 52 of our 57 matches in all competitions, starting and completing 37 out of 37 in the league. Hugo Lloris is also ever-present in the Premier League.

A central midfielder in his playing days - including 72 appearances during his Spurs career - Interim Head Coach Ryan can fully appreciate how difficult it is to complete a full season in those central battlegrounds in such a physically demanding league.

He said: “Pierre is an incredible professional, takes care of his body, competes every day in training and that allows his body to cope with the demands (of playing in that position).

“He’s been fantastic for us all season and there is a change of manager in there as well, and that’s not easy for players, a little bit of a change in your way of working which is different and takes time sometimes to adapt to, but he’s a consummate professional, and he’s been outstanding this season.”
