Home from home for Giovani

Giovani Lo Celso is beginning a new life at Spurs - and he’ll feel right at home.

We've secured a season-long loan signing of the attacking midfielder from Real Betis with an option to make the transfer permanent.

Formerly with Rosario Central and PSG, Giovani impressed for Los Verdiblancos in Spain last season where he scored 16 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions. He has also been capped 19 times by Argentina.

And it’s the Argentina link that will help him settle straight in here at Spurs. As well as Mauricio Pochettino, Giovani knows Erik Lamela, Paulo Gazzaniga and Juan Foyth from international duty – indeed, he was together with Juan for the Copa America as recently as July.

That’s not all though. Giovani also played with Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier during his time at PSG in France.

Speaking at his unveiling on Thursday, Giovani explained: “Having Argentine team-mates I know and those I was with in Paris will of course be important for me settling in.

“My first impressions having seen the club for myself is that it’s got great facilities and first-rate staff. I’m very happy about this and look forward to linking up with them and training here.

“Spurs is a very big club with plenty of history. There’s a great project ahead which is why I’m here. The team got to the final of the last Champions League which is no mean feat. As I said, I’m very happy to be here and ready to give my all.”
