Attitude key - Harry
Harry Kane sees our victory at Villa as the blueprint for the rest of the season.
‘Attitude’ was the key word for the striker who racked up Spurs goal number 215 in a convincing 2-0 success at Villa Park on Sunday. It was a much-needed result and performance after well-documented losses to Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb last week, the win lifting us to sixth in the Premier League, three points behind Chelsea in fourth.
“That’s what we need, and it’s not just for one game, it can’t be like a switch, on and off, it needs to be every game we play in,” said Harry, whose goal to secure the win took him to 30 goal involvements in the Premier League this season (17 goals/13 assists).
“We’ve nine more in the Premier League now, we’ve a cup final to play, we’ve just got to focus on every game and if we have this attitude, I’m sure we’ll be alright.”
Carlos Vinicius also scored his first Premier League goal on a day of positives in Birmingham, the smiles on the final whistle a stark contrast to the mood after trips to the Emirates and Croatia.
Harry added: “We know we dropped below our standards and the worst part of that is probably our attitude, in terms of how were on the pitch. You can lose football matches, you can have games where the opposition are better, but that wasn’t really the case.
“We didn’t have any fight, any passion and that’s embarrassing from our point of view as players, we’re the ones on the pitch and we have to control that. It’s a shame because we were on a good run before that, but we did a really good job at Villa and bounced back in the right way.”
