Getting to know | Matilda Vinberg

Matilda Vinberg has enjoyed a strong start to the 2025/26 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign, featuring in 10 of our 12 games so far this term.

Having joined us in January, 2024, from Hammarby IF, the Sweden international recently surpassed half a century of appearances for us and has been one of our strongest performers in the Women’s League Cup, registering three assists in three games.

In this month’s newsletter, we sit down for an exclusive interview with the forward, giving you the chance to get to know her beyond the pitch.

What is your typical Sunday like without a match?

Matilda: “I usually have a sleep in and then I would make myself a brunch. I just really try to recover and relax where I can and if I want to take a walk, I go for one through my town.”

One thing fans would be surprised to know about you?

Matilda: “That I used to do gymnastics at a very young age alongside playing football. When I was six or seven years old, I made up my mind though and decided I wanted to play football.”

Biggest idol?

Matilda: “It would be my mum and, footballing-wise, it will be Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Describe yourself with as little words as possible?

Matilda: “Funny, caring and a loving person.”

Favourite cuisine?

Matilda: “Oh anything with Italian – I love it!”

TV series or movies?

Matilda: “I would choose TV series. I’m currently rewatching Greys Anatomy so that’s going to take a long time, but I love that show.”

Where do you like to visit in London?

Matilda: “Wow – where would I start! I would like to explore more of the Soho area as I haven’t been there yet.”

Favourite artist?

Matilda: “This is a hard one as I love music. One of my top artists on the Spotify Wrapped was The Verve or another one was a Swedish artist called Daniela Rathana.”
