Sonny's goal
Heung-Min Son enjoyed his best season in a Spurs shirt in 2018/19 - and he's determined to reach even greater heights next season.
The South Korean star hit the 20-goal mark in 48 appearances in all competitions including three of our four goals against Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Sonny shone particularly in the second half of the campaign and his performances saw him make a clean sweep of our Club awards in May.
Back on international duty this week after the Champions League Final, Sonny, typically modest, said: “I didn’t expect it to go so well this season, especially as I went away twice with the national team in the middle of it for what were very important tournaments.
“It meant I missed a few games for Spurs because of that and I feel very sorry because when I left, it was during a very important time for the club as well. However, I got to play a lot of games for both Spurs and the national team so I’m really happy that I could do that.
“I’m just grateful to the Club. The manager and coaching staff were great for me when I went away, and they have been great in helping me throughout this season.
“It’s been nice as well to score so many goals this year and that just makes me so happy.
"But I’m always thinking about improving as well. It’s always my goal to have an even better season than the one previous.
“I want to improve every single day and every single game. It’s not easy but with the help of my team-mates who are so good around me, they make so happy and that’s why I can play all season, the whole 10 months, and perform well. I try to enjoy every single moment and I try to step up each season.”
