Loan Watch | Yang's debut, Manor on the scoresheet and victory over Real Madrid

An update on the progress of our players out on loan, as Yang-Min Hyeok made his QPR debut, Alejo Veliz beat Real Madrid and Manor Solomon was on the scoresheet for Leeds.

As another weekend of action draws to a close, it's time to take a look at how our players got on out on loan.

Manor Solomon bagged for Leeds United in a 7-0 rout at Elland Road over a struggling Cardiff City side, whilst elsewhere in the Championship Yang Min-Hyeok made his QPR debut and Ashley Phillips picked up a big win with Stoke in their fight for survival.

In League One, Leyton Orient's 11-game unbeaten run came to an end and George Abbott completed every minute as Notts County beat Gillingham to remain in the top three in League Two, whilst in non-league Luca Gunter and Wealdstone picked up an important point in the National League.

Across the continent there were minutes for Alfie Devine in a crucial win for Westerlo and for Alejo Veliz as Espanyol defeated Real Madrid.

Espanyol dug deep to earn a late win against Real Madrid

Alejo Veliz

It was a great weekend for Alejo and his Espanyol side, as they beat Carlo Ancelotti's table-topping Real Madrid side 1-0 at the RCDE Stadium on Saturday.

Carlos Romero scored the winner for the Periquitos with five minutes of regulation time to play in the second-half, against a Madrid side that featured the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.

Alejo came on with just under 20 minutes to play, in what proved to be a crucial victory as fellow strugglers Valencia also picked up three points, whilst Alaves lost, meaning Manolo Gonzalez's side climbed from second-bottom, out of the bottom three in La Liga and into 17th, level on points with Las Palmas in 15th.

Manor Solomon

A busy week saw Manor bag his fifth goal involvement in five games, firing home the third as Leeds United stormed to a 7-0 win over Cardiff City at Elland Road on Saturday.

He then followed it up on Wednesday night by making it six in six, notching the assist for Joel Piroe's 17th minute-opener against Coventry in a 2-0 victory at the CBS Arena, completing 149 minutes across the two fixtures.

The back-to-back wins and clean sheets have seen the Whites move to five points clear of second-placed Burnley at the summit of the Championship, although Sheffield United can reduce that gap should they win their game in hand.

Yang Min-Hyeok

Yang-Min Hyeok made his QPR debut at The Den as his side narrowly lost 2-1 in a fiery London derby in Bermondsey on Saturday.

Yang replaced Iliar Chair with 14 minutes to play, and forced a strong save from Lukas Jensen in the Lions' goal just two minutes after coming on.

He then followed that up with his first appearance at Loftus Road on Tuesday night, replacing Paul Smyth in the 66th minute, as the R's ran out 2-1 winners over Blackburn Rovers.

Marti Cifuentes' side remain 13th in the Championship table, but are just three points behind a play-off place.

Ashley Phillips

There was just one game for Ashley Phillips at Stoke City, which saw them earn three big points as they edged out Hull 2-1 in their relegation six-pointer at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

The hosts opened the scoring just six minutes in through debutant Eliot Matazo, but Mark Robins side turned it around through Ali Al Hamadi and Andrew Moran to give Mark Robins his first victory in charge of the Potters.

Ash played every minute for the sixth consecutive league game as the Staffordshire-based side lifted themselves up to 18th in the table, now five points clear of the relegation places.

Orient's 11-game unbeaten run has come to an end.
Josh and Jamie both completed the full 90 on Saturday.
It was victory for George Abbott and Notts County

Josh Keeley & Jamie Donley

Leyton Orient's 11-game unbeaten run came to an end at the Gaughan Group Stadium on Saturday as Stockport County ran out narrow 1-0 winners.

Both Josh and Jamie completed the full 90 for Richie Wellens side, who remain in the play-off places despite the defeat, with Orient currently sitting sixth on 44 points, ahead of the other four sides also on that tally thanks to their superior goal difference.

George Abbott

Notts County strengthened their grip on an automatic promotion place with a 2-1 victory away at Gillingham on Saturday.

That win saw them move two points clear of the play-off places as Crewe drew 1-1 at Harrogate Town and Bradford City lost to fellow top-seven chasers AFC Wimbledon.

George completed the full 90 for the 14th time in County's last 15 league games as Stuart Maynard's side recorded their 14th win of the campaign so far and are just two points behind second-placed Doncaster with a game in hand.

Dorro completed the full 90 for Aberdeen
Alfie Devine and Westerlo picked up a crucial win at the weekend

Alfie Dorrington

Dorro earned his first start and completed the full 90 for Aberdeen at the weekend, as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Hibernian.

The Dons are now winless in their last 14 league games, and they've also gone 555 minutes without scoring, although they still sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership table, just two points behind third-placed Dundee United.

Alfie Devine

Alfie Devine completed 86 minutes in Westerlo's 2-1 win over KV Kortrijk - his side's first victory in 2025.

It was De Kemphanen's first victory in nine games and also ended a run of four consecutive defeats in the league and despite that torrid run of form, Alfie's picked up two goal involvements in his last five games.

Tommy Simons' side went behind just after the half-hour mark, before going down to 10 men midway through the second half. However Jordan Bos levelled the game with just over 20 minutes to play, before an 89th-minute strike from Matija Frigan saw the visitors take the points at the Guldensporenstadion.

Westerlo had dropped into the bottom four after their poor run of form, but this weekend's win saw them climb back up to 13th after STVV's defeat, moving within one point of safety with six games to play.

Back-to-back starts for Luca since joining Wealdstone

Non-League

Luca Gunter has earned three consecutive starts since he joined Wealdstone last week, with his side picking up a point at home to last season's play-off runners-up Solihull Moors at the weekend.

Alex Reid opened the scoring for the Stones just four minutes into the game, only for Alex Whitmore to level the game on the stroke of half-time for the visitors.

Tuesday night saw the Stones lose out in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Tamworth, having been reduced to 10-men just after the hour mark.

An important point had moved Matt Taylor's side out of the bottom four on goal difference, however AFC Fylde's win at Halifax midweek has seen them drop back into the relegation zone, albeit with a game in hand over the Lancashire-based outfit who have moved directly above them.

Elliot Krasniqi also started and completed 180 minutes as Bishop's Stortford suffered back-to-back defeats against Halesowen Town and Alvechurch.

The 4-0 and 1-0 defeats respectively, mean the Blues are now 16th in the Southern League Central Division four points above the bottom four.

It was also defeat for Charlie Warren as he concluded his time at Barton Rovers, slipping to a 2-1 defeat at the Winton Haulage Stadium against Aylesbury United.

The side are winless in their last three, but still sit just inside the play-off places in fifth position in the Southern League Division One Central table, ahead of Thame United on goals scored, although they have a game in hand over Rovers.

Byran Gil completed 81 minutes as his Girona side picked up an important 2-1 win against Las Palmas.

Goals from Abel Ruiz and Yaser Asprilla were enough to take all three points, on a night which also saw the former have a penalty saved during first-half stoppage time

The victory moves the Blanquivermells to within a point of a Europa Conference League spot.

Will Lankshear's late move to West Brom on Friday meant he wasn't registered in time to feature in the Baggies' 2-1 defeat to Plymouth at Home Park, despite the defeat Tony Mowbray's side remain inside the play-off places on goal difference.

Matthew Craig didn't feature for Mansfield Town this weekend as they fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Shrewsbury, a result that lifted Salop off the foot of the League One table.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Carey Bloedorn has returned to the Club after spending the first half of the season on loan at Aveley.

In total, Carey made 19 appearances and completed over 1,700 minutes for the National League South side.
