Galatasaray vs Spurs | Galatasaray's form ahead of our MD4 clash in Istanbul
Galatasaray are in flying form as we prepare to meet at Rams Park in MD4 of the league phase in the UEFA Europa League this evening (5.45pm UK).
A familiar face was on target - our former defender Davinson Sanchez - as Galatasaray beat Besiktas 2-1 in the Istanbul derby last time out in the Super Lig on Monday 28 October. That made it nine wins and a draw in 10 matches so far to top the table, three points clear of Samsunspor.
Since finishing 13th in 2021/22, Galatasaray have won the Super Lig twice on the trot, losing just six games in 74. That is now six in 84, with their last league loss against Fenerbache in May. You then have to go back to a 2-1 defeat at Hatayspor on 11 November, 2023 for another league loss. They won a record 18 on the trot on the way to the title last season.
Mauro Icardi has three goals in his last three games and leads Galatasaray's scoring chart on six in all competitions. Dries Mertens, Michy Batshuayi and huge summer arrival from Napoli, Victor Osimhen, all have four. Icardi led the way last term with 25 goals in the Super Lig, 32 in all competitions.

So far in the UEL, Galatasaray have beaten, were somewhat surprisingly held 2-2 by RFS in Lavtia on MD3 before making two wins in three with a 4-3 goal fest against Elfsborg last time out in MD3 on 23 October.
Interestingly, Galatasaray only registered 39% possession in their 2-1 win against Besiktas last time out. However, they outshot their city rivals 20-8, with Osimhen doubling the lead on 67 minutes after Davinson's opener in the first half. Besiktas pulled a goal back in added time through Ernest Muci.
