Thu 10 July 2003, 12:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

We countdown the top 10 of our 'Your 100 Greatest Spurs Moments' as voted by the fans last summer.

WE PUT together the 'Greatest Spurs Moments' series last summer expecting, as always, a huge response - but we didn't expect the variety of moments that we would receive.

In the end, the series was changed to 'Your 100 Greatest Spurs Moments' but we've realised that we will not be able to run every one.

So we've put together a list of the top 100 moments - found below - and will run the top 10, as voted by you, over the next two weeks.

Thanks again for your terrific response...

YOUR 100 GREATEST SPURS MOMENTS: TOP 10

NUMBER ONE: GAZZA'S MAGIC MOMENT AT WEMBLEY
Dateline: April 14, 1991
Venue: Wembley Stadium
Match: FA Cup semi-final, Tottenham Hotspur 3 Arsenal 1

So here we go, your greatest Spurs moment of all-time - could it be anything else?

We had twice as many fans writing in about Gazza's free-kick than number two in the series, Ricky Villa's goal in the 1981 FA Cup Final.

So what made this number one? It could be a number of things - Gazza, Wembley, the fact it was Arsenal and they were after the double, the fact it was a semi-final...but roll them all into one, and this is the moment you dream of more than any other.

Just for the record, Gazza's 30-yarder beyond David Seaman and the midfielder's performance inspired us to a 2-0 lead, Arsenal pulled one back before Gary Lineker bagged his second to take us to the final.

Here are your memories...

I think Gazza's free-kick against Arsenal in ' 91 was the best moment as far as I can remember. Not only did we beat the Gooners but we went on to win the cup to really rub it in. Anthony Farrell, Dublin.

As a former season ticket holder (now living in Israel) I can recall many great Spurs moments. The greatest for me is still that FA Cup semi final win in 1991. I remember at Wembley when we were 2-0 up, I looked at the scoreboard in disbelief! I went to the 1991 Cup Final, it was great winning the cup, but beating our North London neighbours (I can't bear to write their name!) in that semi final 3-1 was a wonderful feeling. Long Live Gazza! Howard Sherbourne.

Gazza's free-kick against Arsenal at Wembley in 1991 - the first few minutes of the game and the Spurs end went crazy. Moments later and we were 2-0 up and then Lineker sealed it near the end. Best day in Spurs' recent history - even topped the Chelsea 5-1! Lewis Wiltshire.

14th April 1991. FA Cup semi-final against the Gooners. Gascoigne beat Seaman with a pearler of a free-kick. Final result 3-1 to Spurs. Lineker got two. Maybe not our greatest moment ever, but Gascoigne was at his peak before the ill fated Nottingham Forest Final. Some great players and even better to watch Arsenal go out. Never forget it. Simon Roberts.

There have been so many magic moments for me, but the one I'll always remember is our 3-1 destruction of Arsenal in the '91 FA Cup Semi Final. Being there was an incredible experience, and although last season's 5-1 win over Chelsea was like having a huge weight lifted off the shoulders. For me it has to be '91. Rob Palladino, Croydon.

It has to be the one and only Gazza freekick. It will remain in my memory forever. Long Live Gazza. John Connors, Ireland.

My best moment was the goal that Gazza scored against Arsenal in the FA cup. I can still remember the commentary. Great moment, great player. Ashley Patten-Williams.
