Momentum is the key for Jan Vertonghen as we prepare to face Burnley.
The Belgian defender is looking to build on this week’s victories against Swansea in the Premier League and Newcastle in the quarter-final of the Capital One Cup.
Wednesday night’s 4-0 win against Newcastle was seen as our best display of the season and Jan knows we’ll have to maintain that form against an improving Burnley side.
Indeed, the Clarets have lost just one of their last six matches and a 1-0 success against Southampton last weekend lifted them out of the bottom three.
“We’ve done well in the last few games and everyone feels confident,” said Jan, who captained the team against Newcastle.
“Okay, we lost at Chelsea but I didn’t think we played too badly there.
“We really wanted to win the quarter-final against Newcastle, especially at home and we started well, created chances, were focused at the back and tried to press them and it worked out well.
“Burnley will be another tough game at home and we need to put the same effort in. We’re getting more confident, creating more chances and that should help us on Saturday.”
