Turnford School led to success by Global Coaching team

Tue 20 May 2014, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Turnford School in Hertfordshire, whose Sixth Form football squad are part of Tottenham Hotspur's Global Coaching Youth Development partnership, have claimed their 13th piece of silverware in just four seasons.

This partnership sees members of our Global Coaching team delivering A Levels, BTEC and NVQ Level 3 courses to 45 Sixth Form students at the school, as well as an Elite Player Development Programme to Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 students, helping them with pathways into employment and/or further education.

Turnford School had to beat Oaklands College Cavendish on the final day of the season to take the ECFA Eastern League title – and did it in dramatic style.

The team started well and were rewarded early when skipper Tom Warner released Zach Gregory to open the scoring on five minutes. Oaklands levelled 10 minutes later but after being denied twice, Harry Mahoney and Ellis Askey opened it up for Gregory to restore the lead going into half-time.

Oaklands enjoyed great possession and levelled with 25 minutes remaining. Chances continued to come and go at both ends before Bradley Clark secured the victory in the 90th minute to clinch the title.
