Milos Veljkovic was impressed by the standard of opposition we faced on our Tour of the USA and Canada.
We flew home unbeaten after continuing our preparations for the new Premier League season with a trio of matches against MLS sides on the other side of the Atlantic, our opening 3-3 draw at Seattle Sounders being followed up by a 3-2 win at Toronto FC and a 2-0 triumph against Chicago Fire.
For versatile teenager Milos, who appeared at centre-half in all three matches – including an 80-minute stint in Chicago, it was an opportunity to experience playing an American side for the first time ever.
Having garnered further senior experience following two substitute appearances in the Premier League at the back end of last season, the 18-year-old admitted the matches we played on Tour were beneficial to our build-up to the new campaign.
“The Tour was great for our fitness and the standard out there was very good,” said the Switzerland-born Serbia Under-19 international.
“The teams we played, especially Seattle, were very impressive. It was a good challenge for us to take on those three sides and they were good tests for the squad.”
