Spurs vs Liverpool - Mousa buoyant

Mousa Dembele is keen to make it three wins out of three at White Hart Lane this week when Liverpool come to visit on Sunday.

Our Belgian international midfielder played his first full 90 minutes of the season in Thursday’s Europa League victory against AEL Limassol, having gone on as a second half substitute in last weekend’s 4-0 triumph over Queens Park Rangers – the first of a trio of consecutive home games.

As we prepare to face the Reds in our final match before the international break, Mousa believes the momentum we’ve garnered in our recent outings could serve us well as we seek an early-season N17 treble.

“It’s going to be a big game but we have some confidence after the results against QPR and AEL Limassol, so our preparations for the match are going well,” he said.

“Liverpool will be confident as well as us but we’re playing at home and that is something positive for us. In our last two games we won at home and we did it quite well so we’re going to try and continue that form.”

Reflecting on our 3-0 second leg win against AEL, a result that meant we progressed into the Group Stage of the Europa League with a 5-1 aggregate scoreline, Mousa said he enjoyed being part of a solid midfield triumvirate that included Paulinho and Sandro.

“I think it worked quite well in the middle,” he added. “It was the first time this season we’ve played together – we haven’t played too much so far but still it was a good performance so I’m happy.

“It was a good game. We played comfortably and for me personally it was good because it was my first 90 minutes of the season.”
