1987Â Â Â On tour in Sweden and Finland, young striker Shaun Close scores four times as we beat the Lansi Uudenmaan District 7-2 in Karjaa. Clive Allen also bags a brace with a single for Chris Fairclough.
2007Â Â Â A 4-2 friendly win at Leyton Orient. Robbie Keane with a brace (pictured, above), Jermain Defoe and Darren Bent share our goals.

1934   We beat Charlton Athletic 5-0 in the Professional Club’s Lawn Tennis Championships.
2014Â Â Â Six different goalscorers in our 6-1 win over Celtic at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki.

Ossie Ardiles’s 65th birthday.
2002Â Â Â We win 1-0 in a testimonial for Nigel Gibbs at Watford. Tim Sherwood scores.
2010   We lift the Eusebio Cup when Gareth Bale’s goal is enough to see us beat Benfica at the Estadio de Luz.

1976Â Â Â Chris Jones scores both our goals in a 2-1 friendly win at German side KSV Baunatal.
1984Â Â Â Argentinian World Cup winners Ossie Ardiles and Mario Kempes play alongside each other again as we win 7-0 in a friendly at Enfield. Striker Kempes is on trial but is not taken on.

SPURS v JUVENTUS, pre-season friendly, at Wembley Stadium, 5.30pm
1967Â Â Â Jimmy Greaves scores twice as we draw 3-3 with Celtic at Hampden Park in a friendly. Scottish international Alan Gilzean also nets for us.
2013Â Â Â Striker Roberto Soldado signs from Valencia.

1976Â Â Â Alfie Conn on target as we beat FV Bad Honnef 2-0. Gerry Armstrong also scores.

1977Â Â Â On tour in Sweden, we beat Royal Union (Umea) 2-0 to reach the Nokia Cup Final. John Duncan and Ian Moores score.

1989Â Â Â Gary Lineker scores twice as we win 5-1 at Viking in Norway. Paul Stewart, Terry Fenwick (penalty) and Paul Gascoigne also hit the target.
2015Â Â Â We lose by the only goal on the opening day of the new campaign at Manchester United. Toby Alderweireld and Dele Alli (as substitute) make their debuts with fellow new boys Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier on the bench.

1999Â Â Â We beat Newcastle 3-1 in our first home league game of the season at the Lane. Steffen Iversen, Les Ferdinand and Tim Sherwood share our goals.
2014   A 2-1 win against Schalke where Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado (pictured, below) see us home. Former Spur Kevin-Prince Boateng nets for the home side.

1987   Arsenal defeated 3-1 in Chris Hughton’s testimonial at White Hart Lane. Danny Thomas, Clive Allen and Nico Claesen all score.
1997   We lose 2-0 at home to eventual champions Manchester United. Teddy Sheringham returns to the Lane on what was the opening day – and misses a penalty.

1990Â Â Â A goal from winger Paul Moran is enough for us to beat Sogndal on our Norwegian tour.
2007Â Â Â Younes Kaboul and Darren Bent make their Spurs debuts at Sunderland. We lose 1-0 to a 94th minute goal.

1967   Pat Jennings scores his only Spurs goal – in the Charity Shield against Manchester United at Old Trafford. The game ends 3-3.
1995   Gary Mabbutt’s testimonial at White Hart Lane sees us lose 2-0 to Newcastle United.

NEWCASTLE v SPURS, Premier League, at St James’ Park, 1.30pm
2011Â Â Â Our planned opening day home fixture with Everton is postponed due to civil unrest in the local area.
2016Â Â Â Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen make their Spurs debuts at Everton. We draw 1-1 with Erik Lamela on target.

1990   Ray Clemence’s benefit match sees us beat West Ham 4-1 at the Lane with two goals from Gary Lineker (one a penalty) and one apiece from Paul Gascoigne and Nayim.
1996Â Â Â Victory on the opening day at Blackburn but our celebrations are muted as skipper Gary Mabbutt breaks his leg early in the game. He would miss the rest of the season. Chris Armstrong scores both in our 2-0 win.

1952Â Â Â Ricky Villa born in Buenos Aires. He would sign for us from Racing Club in June, 1978.
2013Â Â Â A Roberto Soldado penalty gives us a single goal win at Crystal Palace.

1986   Mark Falco is our marksman in a 1-1 draw with PSV Eindhoven in Barcelona’s Juan Gamper Tournament.

2010Â Â Â After losing 3-2 to Young Boys in the first leg of our Champions League play-off, we beat them 4-0 in the return at the Lane thanks to a Peter Crouch hat-trick (one a penalty) and a single from Jermain Defoe.
2013Â Â Â Another Roberto Soldado penalty wins it for us against Swansea City at the Lane.

1988Â Â Â Our scheduled opening fixture of the season against Coventry City is called off on the morning of the game due to ongoing building works at the stadium. This means Gazza making his Spurs debut at former club Newcastle.
