Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

The contracts of seven players expire at the end of this season - six will be released while club captain Jamie Redknapp has been given a new one-year deal.

Senior players Darren Anderton, Gus Poyet and Christian Ziege are being released, along with Lars Hirschfeld, Shwan Jalal and Danny Foster.

Midfielder Darren, capped 30 times by England, joined the club from Portsmouth in 1992 and has made over 350 appearances in all competitions.

Gus joined us from Chelsea in the summer of 2001 and has made 97 appearances despite a serious knee injury in 2002-03 and suffering a broken arm in August.

Christian also joined us for the start of the 2001-02 campaign and recovered from a career-threatening injury on Boxing Day 2002 to take his tally of appearances to 54.

Goalkeeper Lars has spent time on the bench as cover for Kasey Keller both this season and last term without making a first team appearance. The Canadian international joined us in March 2002 and had brief loan spells at Luton and Gillingham in his time here.

Young defender Danny came through the Academy system at the club and made seven reserve appearances this season.

Goalkeeper Shwan has also recovered from serious injury this season having damaged knee ligaments in September. He joined us from Hastings Town in August 2002.

Daniel Levy, Chairman, said this evening: "I’m pleased to announce that Jamie will be staying with us for next season. In respect of those leaving us, I should like to thank the players and wish them well in the future. In particular we wish Darren well after no less than 12 years at the Club. Gus and Christian have given the supporters much to cheer about during their stay too. We wish them luck for the future."
