Pat's pride in boys

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Pat Holland reflected on what was a superb cup run for his side after bowing out against Everton and expressed great pride in his team.

Our under-18 Academy side lost 4-2 on aggregate at the semi-final stage of the FA Youth Cup after a journey that has taken in trips to Walsall, Bolton and Leeds, a home tie against Blackburn before Everton over two legs proved a hurdle too far.

Despite conceding first-half goals to Everton prodigy Wayne Rooney, the boys rallied in the second period and had the Merseysiders rocking late on. A little bit too late though as the clock was against them.

"A great run, full credit to the kids," said coach Pat afterwards. "I just said to them after, that they've just ever so well and we're really proud of them. Now it is just another chapter in their career.

"Now they've got to go on and enjoy it, they'll hopefully all be playing reserve team football next year."

Pat roused the troops at the break by pointing out that Glenn was watching and good individual performances would catch his eye. David Galbraith certainly made a difference after coming on, tormenting Everton down the left flank.

"I told them to relax and enjoy it at half-time, to go and put on a performance. I said there are people looking, the manager is here, you want to show them as individuals that you can play a bit.

"Again we looked a little bit too tense though. When we bought David on, that made a big difference, he got some good crosses in and suddenly they were under the cosh a little bit.

"If we had got the goal ten minutes earlier they would have had a real tie on their hands. I was really pleased with the second half performance, it was good."
