Kyle wants more of the same against United

Kyle Walker would love nothing more than to replicate his goalscoring feat against Manchester United from last season on Sunday.

Our England international right-back opened the scoring with a low, drilled free-kick as we drew 2-2 with the Red Devils on their last visit to White Hart Lane in December 2013.

Now, as we prepare to face Louis Van Gaal’s in-form side, the full-back says he’s keen on making a return to the scoresheet while doing his best to keep what he describes as a “world class attacking force” at bay at the other end.

“I can remember my goal against United last year quite clearly,” he said. “Mousa Dembele said that the wall was too close to the goal for me to get the ball up and over, so he said I should try to go under it because they’re going to jump.

“Luckily I struck it well, it went under the wall and it worked out alright!

“I want to add to my goals tally and hopefully I can do that over the festive period – there are a lot of games for me to do that. It would be nice to cap off what I’ve achieved after coming back from nine months out with a goal – I’m looking forward to this period of games.

“It’s going to be difficult against United, though. They didn’t get off to a great start this season but with the players they’ve got and as an attacking force, they are world class.

“Hopefully as defenders we can keep them at bay and go on to win the game.”
