Full name: NEC (Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie) Nijmegen
Stadium: McDos Goffertstadion
Capacity: 12,500

Red, Green and Black

NEC has not won any major tournaments to date although they managed to attain runners-up spot in the Dutch Cup competition in 1973, 1983, 1994 and 2000.

A few facts:
Nijmegen is considered to be the oldest city in the Netherlands and celebrated its 2000th year of existence in 2005.

The fans of NEC are called 'De Trouwe Honden' which means 'The Loyal Dogs'.

NEC are currently eighth in the Dutch Eredivisie but unbeaten at home after five matches and beat PSV 1-0 at the McDos Goffertstadion at the start of the month.

NEC coach Mario Been played against Tottenham during his time as a midfielder at Feyenoord. In what was his first game in UEFA club competition Been came off the bench at the De Kuip Stadium as his side went down 2-0 to Tottenham in the second leg of a 1983/84 UEFA Cup second-round tie. Feyenoord had lost the first leg 4-2 in London.

UEFA Cup, NEC'S story so far:
NEC finished eighth in Holland last season, and qualified for the UEFA Cup after progressing through the Dutch UEFA Cup play-offs, defeating Groningen in the final over two legs.

They reached the group stages after a 1-0 aggregate win against Dinamo Bucharest in the first round in September.

NEC's 1-0 win at home against Dinamo Bucharest in this season's UEFA Cup first round was their first home victory in European competition, coming at the fifth attempt.

They were 2-1 up with 15 minuts to go of their first group match away to Dinamo Zagreb, only to lose 3-2. They did not play on Matchday Two.
