'He's a joy to play with' - Dele Alli on Toby Alderweireld
09 December 2016|Tottenham Hotspur
Dele Alli has summed up what Toby Alderweireld means to this Spurs team.
The classy centre-back returned from a seven-week injury stint on the sidelines as a substitute in the second half of our 3-1 win against CSKA in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Belgian international missed 10 games in that time but looks ready to rekindle his central partnership with Jan Vertonghen against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
"Toby is a leader, great defender, great on the ball and a great player," said Dele, who scored once and forced an own goal against CSKA. "He’s a joy to play with, to be honest.
"He’s a massive player for us, Eric (Dier) has gone back there (into the central role in Toby's absence) and done well and it will be interesting to see what happens now."
Mauricio Pochettino added: "It was good for Toby (to play a part against CSKA) to start to recover. We have a lot of games ahead and we need all the squad and it’s another alternative, another option to help the team in the next few matches."
