Brad Friedel was left to reflect on a special day as we kicked-off our Tour with a friendly in Seattle.
US goalkeeping legend Brad earned 82 caps for his country including three World Cups before retiring from international football in 2005.
He has been based in England since 1997 but since calling it a day with the US, has found playing time back home at a premium.
So we was delighted to step out in front of a huge crowd at Seattle’s impressive CenturyLink Field on Saturday and produced key saves in the first half as we drew our first pre-season friendly 3-3 against the high-flying Sounders.
“I don’t get many opportunities since retiring from the US national team to play in the US, so it’s always special for me and I thoroughly enjoy my time on Tour,” said Brad, who completed 90 minutes against Seattle and another 90 in Wednesday night’s 3-3 draw against Toronto.
“It was our first match of pre-season and we had to switch on straight away to go and play in front of 55,000 people against a team that is right at it at the moment.
“It was a tough game for us but to come away with an entertaining 3-3 draw, everyone went home quite happy.”
